Grammy Afterparty
In my last post, I wrote about Kelis controversial Grammy outfit, watch a video of Kelis and Nas explaining it to the CNN audience after the jump.
The-Raft.com has a short article about Kelis’ upcoming “The Hits” album:
Many artists strive to be innovative. Kelis does it naturally. Now nine years after her first release, Kelis are set to release her greatest hits album, ‘The Hits’, on March 3rd.
The New York born artist has always been in her own league, a singer and entertainer that others look to for inspiration.
“The Hits” features songs from her four albums; “Kaleidoscope”, “Wanderland”, “Tasty” and “Kelis Was Here”, plus some key collaborations with Ol’ Dirty Bastard (Got Your Money), Richard X (Finest Dreams), and N*E*R*D (Truth Or Dare).
The album is available for pre-order on amazon.com, it will be released in the US on on Mar 11, 2008 through Jive Records (March 4 in Europe). Here’s amazon’s product description:
Only a true artist has the ability to innovate an entire genre. Ever since debuting with her first album Kaleidoscope nearly ten years ago, Kelis has remained on the cutting edge of both fashion and music. As one of the first major pop stars to collaborate with the Grammy award-winning production duo The Neptunes, Kelis became a trendsetter for an entire generation of hip-hop and R&B artists. Through the incredible collection of songs found on her four albums, she has managed to stretch the barriers of modern day soul to incorporate hints of dance, rock and rap music.
With The Hits, fans will be able to trace the Harlem-born singer’s vast influence. Songs like her first ever single “Caught Out There” where the former pink-haired singer screamed “I hate you so much right now!” and her body rockin’ duet with Ol’ Dirty Bastard “Got Your Money” showcase the trendsetting songstress’ universal appeal. “Young, Fresh N’ New,” “Bossy,” and the racy “In Public” are also be included among Kelis’ greatest hits along with her chart-topping sing-along, “Milkshake.”
Kelis attended the Sony/BMG Grammy after party, she looked stunning, see photos by clicking the images below.

You know people take messages for granted but if Kelis hadn’t thrown in that tidbit in the end I would have never went to look up that John Lennon song…now after hearing the message in that song I really gotta say people need to shut up and let Nas make his point with this album already…go Kelis!
