Kelis' BBC 1Xtra interview
Kelis gave a telephone interview to Max from BBC 1Xtra on November 6th, we neither have the audio, nor the transcript, but Tom, who was able to listen to it, wrote a short summary of what she said:
Kelis says she was never signed to Jive, and she was just ‘put’ there after Arista folded – she said she’d been fighting for 3 years to leave Jive but they wouldn’t let her and it felt like an ‘arranged marriage’
She’s incredibly happy she’s now ‘free’ and can pursue her music aspirations further…
She definitely has an album waiting to be put out and we’ll hear that within a year…
and finally on the subject of being a mommy – she said she isnt in the right frame of mind for that at the moment, and as such she wont be running to any fertility clinics so her fans needn’t worry about her taking a break…
The rest of the interview focussed on Nas’ controversial new album title, in which she said people’s opinions don’t matter and if they feel their opinions are that important, they should step up and put an album out. She actually went on a rant about this one
