Kelis Responds to PETA

Kelis released a scathing statement to PETA via Myspace today in response to a letter they sent her, and it has the internet buzzing.

Then the letter proceeded to name artist and designers who don’t wear real fur. Great! More for me! I don’t judge them, don’t judge me.

PETA has taken concern with Kelis’ choice to wear fur during her trip to London.

  1. Kelis,
A whole bunch of famers and ranchers love you today for standing up to PETA. We’ve been trying to say this to them for a long time. You said it better than we ever could. Welcome to a whole new audience. Most of us didn’t even know your name until yesterday. Now we’re some of your biggest fans. Keep wearing fur and eating meat. We’re with you.

  4. Hi Kelis,
I know it seems like its ok to wear fur. I also know the grand scheme of things, and if you don’t change you will be a mink in your next life. Please don’t wear fur. Your fans love you. But it hurts us to see you wear fur. God Bless..

  5. Kelis is just another stupid ghetto cunt with no self-respect. You truly are an uneducated loser. Did you even graduate high school?

  6. The little bit of research you did on PETA’s founder should have been done on factory farming and the fur trade industry instead. It only takes a little bit of time to discover that the way we do things now in America is NOT the way God intended it to be. It may be okay for us to eat meat and to use the left over body parts, but it is NOT okay for us to treat those animals like slaves, pushing and pushing their bodies beyond anything they would experience normally until they finally break. We pump them full of hormones so that they grow so big and fast, their own legs give out. Have you not heard of the laws trying to ban the use of downers? Downers are animals that can’t stand. You still eat those! A creature so sick it cannot even stand. Do some research please. It changed my entire life to discover the things no one wants to talk about.

  7. So Sad. How someone with limited literacy and lack of empathy, but an abundance of apathy can be considered a “Celebrity” . Shallow, superficial, who contributes nothing to society. So worried about compassion twards people…that starts with animals. There are serial killers that felt that wearing human skin was luxurious and glamourous too! Speaking of compassion for people in poor, underdeveloped countries…How many families could you have saved with what you spend on one outfit?? You talk the talk..walk the walk..Help these people! Liquidate your possessions including “fur” and go overseas and serve rice to starving children! No, I didnt think so…The fact is, materialistic persons who have no empathy and compassion only care about one thing..Themselves. Not animals, not children,Not starving people in other countries…only their shallow desires. You mention “God” hmmm…God has compassion, has love, cares for ALL his children..human and animal. Heres a quote“It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter through the gates of heaven” ..Jesus Christ.
It all revolves around Greed, money, and materialistic displays. Yes, you will get the support of farmers…The ones who raise/butcher animals…They too have sold their soul and lost any empathy in exchange for materialism. I hope you really realize what is important in life..Its not fashion, or How good a dead animals hide feels against your skin,or how much fame or money you have….Its a short walk, better choose the right path!

  8. Kelis,
“A whole bunch of famers and ranchers love you today for standing up to PETA. We’ve been trying to say this to them for a long time. You said it better than we ever could.”

That’s because you’re a bunch of ignorant, inarticulate hicks and most likely products of incest.

“Most of us didn’t even know your name until yesterday.”

i.e. this kelis woman is an unimportant hag, who has no real reason to be known at all.

  9. Hello, Ithink no one can really be heartless. Some people just don’t wanna think about what’s wrong in their lives. You’re someone like that. Probably you don’t know anything about the animals you get your “precious fur” from. You don’t care about the animals’ feelings and just wanna be beautiful. But fur can’t be beautiful. Lots of animals are killed in these farms just for some crazy people who feel better when they wear the fur of poor animals. Most of them never see the sun, although they’d love to run around and enjoy their lives.Instead of sitting in a small cage all of their lives. They go mad there. People who wear fur are just egoists and only care about themselves. I can’t imagine how you wear fur without thinking about the consequences. Please watch this video maybe it’ll make you think about your attitude http://gegen-tierquaelerei.6x.to/

  10. keep the positive comments coming, by ALL means…most of the comments posted here are from people who are just as ignorant as they’re accusing Kelis of being…which is evident through the name-calling, lol. God forbid anyone retaliate against PETA, right??!!

  11. Clap, clap, clap … I am giving you a standing ovation! Finally someone who couldn’t be intimidated by peta’s fear monger tactics! Do people not know or do they just not care about Aboriginal or Inuit people’s independence, culture and relationship with the land? Beaver, muskrat, seals, caribou and other animals provide food in remote communities and the fur from these animals provide income – when a family has eaten a beaver roast should they then throw away the fur? The fur trade is unfortunately an easy mark and with that comes the disrespect for the diversity of people and cultures. Thank you, I for one was very impressed!

  12. I was a fan until I read your statement. I have since removed all your music from my library and will NOT be buying your new cd….I hope that many others follow suit….Your fans should not be giving your their hard earned money in order for you to continue this vicious cycle of animal cruelty! PETA does not instil fear in people…what they do is give people that facts – what you do with those details is up to you….Kelis – your response is vile, sickening and disheartening…your response was not a knowledgeable one – it was a response out of hatred and not being able to see the truth. You should watch how they make those furs that you wear….PETA is standing up for animals that can’t defend themselves all they can do is CRY IN PAIN when they are skinned alive.

PETA RULESKELLY, please do some research before you make such an uneducated response.

    LOVE and LIGHT to all.

  13. Kelis, I will never again buy another record of yours now that I know that the money is going to help pay for the abuse, torture, and slaughter of innocent animals. It’s a shame, because I really like your voice and your music. Please reconsider. Please go to youtube or google video and watch Earthlings.
